  Anti-seepage technology of landfill sites. Nowadays, the main methods of urban waste treatment include incineration, sanitary landfill, composting and power generation. The landfill method is widely used because of its low cost and good sanitation.
  In the landfill work, through the adoption of artificial horizontal anti-seepage technology and the disposal of the landfill release, the pollution of the surrounding environment from the landfill was effectively controlled. The liner system located at the bottom and around the landfill is a hydraulic isolation measure used to separate domestic garbage from the surrounding environment to avoid polluting the surrounding land and groundwater. In order to achieve this goal, the liner system must have the characteristics of low permeability, long-term compatibility with the filled garbage, high adsorption capacity and low transmission coefficient. The liner system of a landfill usually includes a filter layer, a drainage layer (including a leachate collection system), a protective layer, and an impermeable layer. The function of the anti-seepage layer is to prevent the leachate from migrating to the environment outside the landfill by laying low permeability materials, and at the same time prevent the external groundwater from entering the landfill.
According to the different laying directions, the site anti-seepage can be divided into vertical anti-seepage and horizontal anti-seepage. Artificial horizontal anti-seepage sanitary landfill is the main method of municipal solid waste disposal. The horizontal anti-seepage methods that can be used in this site are:
    (1) Natural red clay anti-seepage: that is, making full use of local natural building materials, laying a clay cover with a thickness of about 50 cm to 80 cm at the bottom of the reservoir, and its permeability after compaction meets the requirements of impermeability
    (2) HDPE (high-density polyethylene) impermeable membrane: it is a new type of material with the characteristics and functions of excellent impermeability, good corrosion resistance, good chemical stability, and can be processed according to actual engineering needs. The thickness is 0.20 mm~3.0 mm, the width is 6 m~12 m, and the permeability coefficient is less than 10-12cm/s.
    (3) Bentonite waterproof blanket is composed of a thin layer of sodium or calcium bentonite and one or more layers of geosynthetics. The geosynthetics is a geotextile or geomembrane with a thickness of about 5mm and a permeability coefficient of less than 10-9cm/s.
    The addition of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) anti-seepage membrane to the clay layer in the landfill can ensure that the landfill meets the anti-seepage requirements of the sanitary landfill technical standards.
